Pinot Noir
Wine
Freycinet Pinot Noir is the flagship wine. It is sourced from the estate's original amphitheatre vineyard planted in 1979 on the Freycinet Peninsula just inland from the coast.
Most of the handpicked grapes are lightly crushed and destemmed. A small portion are left as whole bunches. Fermentation occurs in a rotary fermenter with a pure yeast culture, peaking at around 32°C.
After gently extracting colour, flavour and tannins from the skins, the wine is pressed to one third new French oak barrels to mature for 12 months.
Brilliant red, Freycinet Pinot Noir has ripe red berry flavours, savoury tannins and velvety texture. Its hallmarks are its power, concentration and complexity.
For lovers of the fine red Burgundy style. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
